Flower Travellin’ Band’s first ever US performance! On 25th November2008

The legendary Japanese psychedelic band, Flower Travellin’ Band, is travellin’ over seas to rock out the Third Annual Halleluwah Festival of Enthused Arts as a full club event on December 9, 2008 at Knitting Factory. Under the name FLOWERS they released in 1969 their first album, titled “Challenge”. It was more in a Psychedelic vein, not so heavy and varied like the following records. In 1970, Joe(vo), Hideki Ishima(g), Joji Wada(ds) and Jhun Kowzuki(b), I don´t know when the band split-up and if the members still make music today, but FLOWER TRAVELLIN’ BAND will have their place in the history of progressive Heavy rock. The show is going to be at Knitting Factory New York, door opens at 7pm, and the tickets are $25. Be prepared for interesting music, a lot of good songs.

Deitch Studio Presents The Ten Commandments By Keith Haring On 5th November2008

The Ten Commandments, one of Keith Haring’s most powerful series of paintings, will be presented at Deitch Studios, 4-40 44th Drive, Long Island City, New York, from November 8 – December 21, 2008. The works portray the Ten Commandments from Haring’s point of view, combining a traditional Biblical interpretation with the artist’s liberating spirit and apocalyptic vision. The Ten Commandments were painted for Haring’s first solo museum show, a 1985 exhibition at the CAPC, Bordeaux, a reconverted wool warehouse with a span of twenty-five foot high archways supporting the roof. Thinking about how to best use the space, known as “the nave,” Haring had the inspiration to order ten tablet shaped canvases to fit within the arches. While on the dance floor at the Paradise Garage the day before leaving for Bordeaux, he had a vision to paint The Ten Commandments.
