Punk Band PVC from Berlin make their US Debut On 14th May2009

On this coming Saturday, May 16th, our buddy SuperGlorious is going to bring more European punk with legends PVC from Berlin! The German band will form part of a spectrum of 5 amazing bands. PVC – Berlin’s first punk band will play their first gig in the USA at Don Pedro’s in Brooklyn. They started out in the 70s opening for Iggy Pop’s European dates. 70s Punk icon, Joy Ryder, will a guest appearance during their set. The lineup will also include: The sinful sounds of flower powered punkers – Madam Robot & the Lust Brigade, the power grudge duo – Object, the Experimental Psych masters – 12000 Trees, and the debut of Me & Mars. With such a powerful line up at only $7.00, it will be a huge mistake to miss it out!

The show is at Don Pedro’s located at 90 Manhattan Avenue, Brooklyn NY(between Boerum & McKibben). You can take L train to Montrose (6 Blocks away), G train to Broadway (3 Blocks away), or M train to Lorimer (3 Blocks away). Doors open at 9PM and show starts at 9:30PM. 21+ only (sorry, maybe next show, minors…). And as I mentioned before, it is just $7.00 per. Cheers~~~

Gibson Artist Series Guitars On 27th April2009

Gibson and the legendary member of classic rock band Led Zepplin’s Jimmy Page have joined voices to create a series of artist-designed guitars from both the United Kingdom and Brazil. With the well-known guitars of Gibson serving as the template, the money from the sale of the guitars will benefit the children of Brazil’s shanty-town favelas. The guitars seen here include Calma, Titi Freak, Will Barras, Daniel Melime, Inkie and Pure Evil. Alongside the ones seen here are other artist-designs (for a total of 12) which are currently being showcased as part of the A Força Da Rua (”Force Of The Streets”) exhibition at The Print Space in East London. The auctioning of the guitars will take place at The Cuckoo Club on April 29th, with the proceeds benefiting the ABC Trust.

Superglorious Presents – Wall of Love On 17th March2009

We are proud to announce our buddy, Superglorious, is presenting a FREE(YES!!! That’s right, FREE~~) live show – Wall of Love, on March 24th at Public Assembly’s main room (70 North 6th Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY), featuring Apollo Heights, Grapevine, Cale Parks, Autodrone! Again, the show is FREE, opening to age 21 and over, the door opens at 9pm and show starts at 9:30pm. If you happen to be living in New York city, remember to pay a visit! Mike Leavitt – Don’t Stop Object Shopping Exhibition On 16th March2009

Mike Leavitt’s ‘Don’t Stop Object Shopping’ exhibition at NYC’s Fuse Gallery features some interesting takes on classic sneaker silhouettes. A jack-of-all-trades, Leavitt used cardboard, glue and acrylic paint to construct replicas of classic kicks. Pictured above, we see what Air Jordan IVs, adidas Gazelles and Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars would look like in recyclable form. The show at Fuse starts next Saturday, March 21 and continues for four weeks, concluding on Saturday, April 18. A little good show for all sneaker heads to pay a visit.

MoMA Showcased in Brooklyn Subway Station On 20th February2009

Recently MoMA reproduced more than 50 pieces of work from some of the greatest names in art such as Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Charles Eames, Cindy Sherman and Andy Warhol to create some hysteria at the Brooklyn Atlantic Avenue/Pacific Street subway station. Up until March 15, for 24 hours a day seven days a week, images of work from the MoMA collection will be on display inside the subway station with the aim raise awareness of the New York Museum’s collection of artwork and design speaking volumes. Be sure to check it out if you are in the area.

Takashi Murakami Exhibition at Gagosian London On 13th February2009

Opened almost as a preview for Takashi Murakami’s upcoming show at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in Spain, the Gagosian Gallery in London saw the opening of their exhibition last night. The show featured three larger scale paintings including work from Murakami’s Time Bokan series and his trademark KaiKai and Kiki characters. Takashi even managed to showcased some live unofficial body painting segments. Check it out!

Danielle Levitt – We Are Experienced On 12th February2009

PowerHouse Books, Freshjive and Reserve, would like to invite you to the LA launch of We Are Experienced by Danielle Levitt on Thursday, February 12, 2009 from 7-10pm at Reserve, 420 North Fairfax Avenue. Danielle Levitt arrived at her distinctive photographic style capturing street fashion, pop culture, and celebrity for countless publications. While producing this commercial work, Levitt also pursued her passion for documenting American youth. The result is We Are Experienced, Levitt’s first monograph, a series of portraits depicting adolescents in a variety of urban, suburban, and rural settings, as individuals and in groups, loaded with signifiers both mainstream and marginal.
