Curated by Arkitip: Incase x Evan Hecox iPhone Cases and Laptop Sleeves On 9th February2010

arkitip-incase-evan-hecox-front

Artist and designer Evan Hecox displays his fascination with the urban landscape on Incase products for the sixth installment of Curated by Arkitip. Available today , the Evan Hecox series has been issued in three limited editions: London, New York and Tokyo. As the project’s first artist to present a series of products, Hecox brings to life nontraditional depictions of the famed cities and their associated national emblems on our signature MacBook Sleeve and iPhone Slider Case.

Drawing inspiration from the complexity of the modern metropolis, Hecox’s stylistic approach is based on the process of amplification as it affects form and color: breaking down the image, removing certain elements and emphasizing others. In his original artistry for Curated by Arkitip, Hecox filters the mundane into captivating illustrations of London, New York and Tokyo seemingly filled with narratives beyond the images themselves, and applies them to MacBook Sleeves. The Hecox Slider Cases complement the three Sleeves, bearing instantly recognizable national symbols of the three cities. Hecox re-imagined the symbols through his stylistic approach, resulting in artistic interpretations that are both familiar and new.

Crash Kings to Hit the Road with JET On 9th February2010

Homepage-Slide22

Highly tuneful, very aggressive, hard-hitting rock. Crash Kings take the three-man-band concept to their own unique level, quite often surpassing guitar-driven bands. When siblings and music collide it makes for what we so casually call “undeniable chemistry.” Channeling their passion, they create music so powerful it’s almost a crime—a crime that has been aided and abetted by nothing other than fate itself. Two brothers and one hard-hitting drummer come together to form an ivory-driven power trio firmly rooted in right here and right now; this is Crash Kings.

Crash Kings are ecstatic to announce their tour with Australian rockers JET. The North American trek will begin in Toronto, ON on March 5 at The Opera House. Crash Kings have previously toured with Chris Cornell, Stone Temple Pilots, The Bravery and Rooney. Keith Haring’s 1985 Mural is currently on display at Deitch Projects Wooster Street location in Soho. On show until February 16th 2010, the 70-foot-long mural was painted in 1985 for San Francisco’s South of Market Childcare Center (SOMACC), a non-profit childcare center that serves pre-school children from the SOMA neighborhood. One of 16 public works painted at hospitals and children’s centers around the world during Keith Haring’s lifetime, the mural was painted in one day, incorporating cartoon characters and animals inspired by the artist’s childhood drawings. A must see before this legendary gallery closes it’s doors.
