The legendary Japanese psychedelic band, Flower Travellin’ Band, is travellin’ over seas to rock out the Third Annual Halleluwah Festival of Enthused Arts as a full club event on December 9, 2008 at Knitting Factory. Under the name FLOWERS they released in 1969 their first album, titled “Challenge”. It was more in a Psychedelic vein, not so heavy and varied like the following records. In 1970, Joe(vo), Hideki Ishima(g), Joji Wada(ds) and Jhun Kowzuki(b), I don´t know when the band split-up and if the members still make music today,but FLOWER TRAVELLIN’ BAND will have their place in the history of progressive Heavy rock. The show is going to be at Knitting Factory New York, door opens at 7pm, and the tickets are $25. Be prepared for interesting music, a lot of good songs.

Adidas Performance is set to release another Art of War sneaker in 2009, the Art of War series is a yearly tradition at Adidas dating back to the T-Mac years. The Art of War, a book written by Sun Tzu in the 6th Century BC is tied in here relating to team basketball where each season is almost like a new war for each of the teams. This new TS Creator uses a nearly all black upper with just a hit of gum in the front half with the three-stripes and front outsole. The upper features a nice geometric pattern in a similar gum color. Unfortunately for most of us here in the US, this Adidas TS Creator Art of War is only scheduled to release in Asia.

Simon Birch recently opened one of two exhibitions at the Louis Vuitton gallery in Hong Kong’s Tsim Tsa Tsui Gallery with “Out of the Darkness.” This is welcoming news from the Hong Kong based artist who recovered from cancer earlier this year. “Out of the Darkness” features a number of photographsand also includes a special impromptu art session to create two pieces for the store.

Southern California based premium watch makers Nixon create their latest set of custom limited editions watches in celebration of upscale department store Barney’s 50 years of the peace sign. The collection follows a Happy Hippie theme integrated into Nixon’s popular 51-30 watch platform. Comprised of four unique versions, the pieces are all individually numbered featuring either a six-hand Japanese movement with 1/10th second subdial chrono and date or a Swiss three-hand movement with tide subdial amongst 300 meter water resistant stainless steel casing. The collection will range from $500 to $8,800 in price depending on material integration, with availability exclusive to Barneys Co-Op stores.

In Futura Laboratories’ third generation collaboration with Clarks, the Wallabee Boot strikes a nice balance between the colorful use of a paint splatter motif on a black upper. Last year at the Dice&Dice party celebrating its 20th anniversary, we saw what was a similarly designed series of natural colored Wallabees that seemed to be the precursor to this final product.
